The Road to React: Behind the Scenes
Hi folks, it's Robin.
Last month I launched the new The Road to React feat. Hooks and I was just blown away by your Newsletter response. Thank you for that!
Again, if you are just getting started with React or if you need a refresher on all the new concepts, don't hesitate to read it. This book is for everyone who likes step by step walkthroughs.
If you have bought the book a few years ago on my website, you should have access to the new version too. It's a complete rewrite of the previous book which has been downloaded by more than 50.000 readers now.
Behind the Scenes
If you are interested in how I built this new website with React + Next + GraphQL + TypeScript + Firebase, check out this Twitter thread which I will continue to write over the next months.
Here are three new features which I got running just last week:
1) It's possible to upgrade your bundle to a higher tier now. You can find this feature on your course dashboard.
2) If you are a student or teacher at a school or university, send me proof of it and ask me about student coupons. I want to hand out as many as possible for people who are just getting started with JavaScript.
3) If you are writing about JavaScript yourself, it's possible to become a partner now. Check out what this means on your account dashboard.
That's it about the website. The whole website is open source on GitHub and I intend to add more features to it. Let me know what you'd like to see me implement for it :-)
What's next?
If I were to write a new book, what would you want to learn about? Over the last year I have learned so much about Blogging with React and Gatsby, MERN, Full-Stack React with Next, TypeScript with GraphQL and other tech stacks. However, I want to hear about your future learning paths and wishes. Let me know about your future learning goals by replying to this email.
On Helping Others
Whether you are affected or not by the current world events, I think there are lots of opportunities to help others right now. Especially as developers, we can bootstrap little helper applications quick and easy; if we have the time to do it of course. I have written down my thoughts on Twitter on how I would approach a React project idea. It may help others, or it may just help you to get better with your tools. Either way, it's a win-win situation.
Next time there will be tutorials again. If you cannot wait, check out this blog post about why I think that it's still valuable to learn Redux. Once again, thank you all for your kind feedback about the Road to React launch :-)
Stay healthy and safe.
Robin
